By popular demand, we
will be meeting in Hawaii (the big island) for our 2005 workshop. The workshop
will run from July 11 through 15 (Monday-Friday), with a student day preceding
it (July 10) and will be held at the Sheraton Keauhou resort. It's in a great
location outside Kona and we have guaranteed government per diem rates on the
rooms for all SHINE participants. For more information, check out their website:
http://www.sheratonkeauhou.com
As usual the workshop will feature: Plenary talks on topics of interest to
the SHINE community; informational talks from our agency representatives;
and of course lots of lively working group sessions. Our topics for this year
will include: Sub-surface evolution, numerical models of CME initiation, radio
observations of CMEs and particle acceleration, origin of the solar wind,
modeling and observations of interplanetary shocks, ICMEs, and SEPs, the contribution
of CMEs to the solar wind at solar maximum, recent advances in modeling and
data interpretation of SHINE campaign events, mechanisms of particle acceleration
near the Sun, and the effects of the Sun on the outer heliosphere. This year,
our working group leaders are: Bill Abbett, Mihir Desai, Joe Giacalone, Simon
Plunkett, Ian Richardson, and Ilia Roussev.
Further information, including details on registration and abstract submission
will be announced in the near future. The latest information about SHINE and
the upcoming meeting can always be found at http://shinegroup.org.
